About Us

Dr. Birthright had a vision of opening an animal hospital with veterinarians and staff who would be committed to practicing the best medicine for the pets of Western North Carolina. Over the years, as he practiced with other hospitals, he continued to nurture the idea of opening his own animal hospital. That dream is now a reality.

He and his wife, Kate designed and built the exceptional dwelling that houses our hospital today. Maple Tree Veterinary Hospital opened its doors in July of 2005.

Maple Tree Veterinary Hospital has a fully equipped, state-of-the-art laboratory. We can perform chemistry panels, urinalysis, heartworm tests, fecal exams and feline leukemia and FIV tests. This helps us to better diagnose and treat your pet. In addition, we recommend and perform pre-anesthetic blood tests for all patients to detect any medical conditions that may cause problems during anesthesia.

Our facility also is equipped for surgical procedures. Whether a planned procedure or an emergency, our state-of-the-art monitoring equipment, including EKG and blood pressure monitors, will give you peace of mind during your pet's procedure. In addition, we use special fluid pumps and warming blankets to keep your pet comfortable during any emergency treatment or surgical procedure. There will be a specially trained surgical nurse assigned to your pet throughout surgery and recovery. Specially chosen pain medications will be given before and after the surgical procedure to make sure your pet is pain free and as comfortable as possible.
